Ingredients for Education

Ingredients for Education is a nonprofit organization, founded by a former Sesame Street International Executive Producer, Natasha Lance Rogoff, in 2013, with a mission to create innovative programming that provides tools to help children and families embrace healthy eating, family cooking, and exercise to prevent childhood obesity.

The mission and primary activity of IFE is the dissemination, implementation, and servicing of the innovative multimedia curriculum program, KickinNutrition.TV – delivered to grades 4-8 in inner-city, minority Title 1 Schools (where greater than 40% of students receive free and reduced lunch), afterschools, and community organizations throughout the USA, at no-cost or subsidized prices based on foundation and corporate contributions. IFE also conducts rigorous evaluations in collaboration with university partners to measure quantitative impact of the program on nutrition knowledge and health behaviors.

  • KickinNutrition.TV is a way to bridge learning and culinary traditions between the home life and schools. It is a great idea that they are able write recipes, which is key on literacy, and they’re able to measure food, which is math, so they’re able to learn during the school day in a fun way. They don’t even realize that they’re learning. I cannot say enough good things about KickinNutrition,” Kimberley Jackson-Brown, Program Director, BELL Academy (Queens, NYC), a recipient of KickinNutrition.TV as part of Mario Batali Foundation support.

  • With MBF’s support, Ingredients for Education launched the #KissaFruit Campaign to shed a light on nutrition education and food security issues. Mario kissed a tomato as part of our campaign – showing the world how to #KissaFruit and that ripe red tomatoes are a fruit!

  • The Mario Batali Foundation and Ingredients for Education share a mission to ensure that every child in America has access to healthy food and to education needed to make informed choices around food, nutrition, and cooking. Together, we can eliminate health disparities by encouraging healthy living among children and families no matter their zipcode.

  • With generous support from the Mario Batali Foundation, Ingredients for Education has provided the KickinNutrition.TV digital health curriculum at no-cost to over 2,200 students from low-income, minority neighborhoods in NYC!
